Le Sacre du Printemps

dance
music
06.02.2010

Captivated by the gestures of the conductor at a rehearsal of The Rite of Spring with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Xavier Le Roy decided to carefully study this great classical masterpiece. With no particular musical background, nevertheless he attempted to observe the conductor’s performance as a choreography in itself. Thus the gestures appeared to him as producing the music as well as the music producing the gestures. Which is the one preceded by the other and vice versa ? When does one play and when is one actually played by the music ?
