Urban Ritual
Along with Kaaitheater and De Kriekelaar, Project Bildy-Espacetous, directed by choreographer and performer Einat Tuchman, invites audiences to take a journey through movement, gestures, and storytelling. An open call in Schaerbeek will encourage residents to participate in a series of workshops. These will, in turn, culminate in a contemporary ceremony.
The participatory performances will be accompanied by live musicians who mix traditional music styles from North and West Africa. In this way, Urban Ritual becomes a place to connect with others beyond words, customs, and culture. It is, in other words, a celebration of our mutual connections. In this space we can let go, dance to the rhythm of our emotions, and reclaim social transformation.
The Bildy Market will take place in addition to the performance, a local and artisanal food market with food and products from different cultures – a fusion of traditional aesthetics with fashionable design.
Project Bildy-Espacetous consists of a collective of choreographers and dancers, including:
• Einat Tuchman develops social artistic projects in the commune of Molenbeek. Her performances are about local emancipation and art as a social vehicle for encounters. Tuchman's projects are co-produced by KANAL Pompidou, Kaaitheater, Molenbeek 2030, and many other partners.
• Juan Cizmar collaborates artistically with Espacetous and Bildy Project. He also collaborates with Centre tictac and DCJ. He has experience in the circus world and in social artistic management.
• Yassin Mravtifi creates a variety of participatory dance projects, frequently developed in collaboration with KVS. Mravtifi is a coach in artistic, sport-related, and personal development, and was a long-time member of Ultima Vez.
• Awoulath Alougbin investigates the corresponding points in ritual dance from Benin and Krump. She collaborates with KVS, among others.
