The Song

dance
17—27.09.2009

Spiralling forces

The Song
is a piece for nine men and one woman that bespeaks the imminence of a time when our ever-increasing speed of change out-runs itself.

In this acceleration towards stillness, as humans consume Earth's last remaining natural resources and the physical body as we know it races towards its own obsolescence, necessary radical shifts in momentum, direction and values question what belongs to the past and what belongs to the future.

At the center of these spiralling forces lies the changing role of the body -- as a resonance chamber of the chaotic flows of its environment -- and what it might become. A leap into the unknown, a cry for action, a flight into the hazy border between dusk and dawn, The Song continues where Keeping Still and Zeitung left off: at the still point of the turning world.

After the world premiere in the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris, the production is now coming to Brussels. Later this season, Rosas will be our guest in the Kaaitheater a second time with a repeat performance of Zeitung.
