DOPA

performance
26—27.03.2026

In DOPA's synusia*, hackers Anne Lise Le Gac and Anat Bosak attempt to dismantle, modify, and hijack the systemic objects in their hands. These include both actual and symbolic technologies, such as a luminescent organism, a code of conduct, a bagpipe, an air conditioner, a Wi-Fi box, or a noisy, rotating art object made from waste.

In DOPA, a temporary action network for the free exchange of knowledge, hackers map energy sources in each new terrain, list the limitations, calculate the wattage used, and harvest hidden stories. DOPA cannot predict its own evolution, and feeds on the ferments present in the terrain in which it operates. These hackers thus invest in perishable, variable, and ephemeral real estate. Leaks – just like heat waves – are to be expected. This performance is like a wave from a parallel universe that leaves us on the shore, thrilled and shaken. But don't worry: they will be with us every step of the way.

This site-specific performance connects different locations, mobilizes the audience, and distils its infrastructure out of the driving forces of the spaces in which it takes place. The two artists previously infiltrated a Berlin shop, and now they land in Brussels.

*A synusia is a group of plants, often of the same or similar life forms, that live together in a distinct layer or stratum within a plant community. We can observe these layers in different ecosystems, including forests, grasslands, and aquatic environments. Synusia helps ecologists understand how different groups of plants live together and interact with their habitats.

• Anne Lise Le Gac studied at the École Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Strasbourg, where she specialized in performance and installation art. She took part in the Essais program at the Centre Chorégraphique d'Angers. Her research gradually focused on a hypothesis of ‘vernacular performance’. Then, Claudia Triozzi asked her to participate in her piece Boomerang – Le retour à soi. She accepted. Her research and performances continued, and she remained in dialogue: GRAND MAL with artisanal tailor Élie Ortis,  ACTION / TRADITION / COUVERCLE with beatboxer Aymeric Hainaux, and LE CAP with Pauline L. Boulba, a doctoral student in the department of Dance at the University of Paris 8.

• Anat Bosak is a choreographer, set designer, and thinker. For Bosak, the materials that give shape to a performance − the environment, the lighting, the temperature of the space – serve to shape its theatrical language through the performers' behaviour and movement. In the work, Bosak creates environments that influence the movements of the performers, and the performers influence the movements of those around them. Bosak also collaborates with other artists, such as Laura Kirshenbaum, Anne Lee Le Gac, Laura Learth Moreira, and many others. Together, they have conceived and built spaces that support the conceptual essence of their performances.
