'If I can’t sing, it’s not my revolution'
Radical queer song workshop
In this workshop we will come together for a short while to resist, and create community and solidarity through the pleasure of singing together. Come dive into the rich repertoire of radical diasporist Jewish / queer songs of resistance with our facilitator Joanna Blumberg Britton. No prior music experience or knowledge of Jewish culture is required.
Joanna Blumberg Britton studied modern languages and music in the UK and is now based in Belgium where she is active as a researcher, translator, singer, and community activist. She has been exploring and performing Yiddish culture for over a decade, with a particular passion for traditional song. She is a founding member of Shabbes 24/7 and also of Shtetl Saint-Gilles, the Brussels klezmer collective.
