De verse tijd

theatre
15—16.11.2018

Two theatre makers. One from Bagdad, the other from Amsterdam. Together, they perform nine miniatures which together form on theatre evening. It is the search of two wandering souls for common ground, rooted in the Great Themes. Love, Fear, Loneliness, Sex, Athlete’s Foot, War, Secrets, Fathers, Art, Death. De verse tijd is an encounter between two men who are sometimes diametrically opposed, but who can also be fraternally supportive. Exhausting dance, glacial dialogue, a fragile image.

Kuno Bakker co-founded the Amsterdam-based theatre collective Dood Paard in the early 1990s, and they have performed at the Kaaitheater several times – including with a series of unforgettable Shakespeare adaptations. He also performed here with Maatschappij Discordia (in Mannetje met de lange lul) and tg STAN (in Kunst en Poquelin II). Mokhallad Rasem studied theatre in Bagdad, where he also made his first productions. He has lived and worked in Belgium since 2005. His productions include the lauded Irakese geesten, which was also staged at the Kaaitheater. He joined the Toneelhuismakers in 2013.
