Real Magic

theatre
05—06.10.2017

An impossible illusion

Forced Entertainment’s new production creates a world of absurd disconnection, struggle and comic repetition. To the sound of looped applause and canned laughter, the performers take part in an impossible illusion. While moments of defeat, hope and expectation are repeated endlessly, something unfolds that is part chaotic TV programme, part cabaret act, and part telepathic feat. Trapped in a world of second-chances and second-guesses, variation and change, distortions and transformations, Real Magic takes you on a hallucinogenic trip. The result is a compelling performance about optimism, individual agency and the desire for change: pure magic!

• The British company Forced Entertainment has been a regular fixture in the Kaaitheater programme for twenty years. Last season, the group made a big impression with Complete Works: Table Top Shakespeare. Using household objects, they performed Shakespeare’s complete works in a mere six days.
