Ho What A Cake
The remarkable thing about Laure Prouvost’s work is her quest to create polymorphous narratives: stories told from constantly changing perspectives, with space for coincidence and dreams, for mistakes and forgetfulness. The sculpture Ho What A Cake – a loaf of bread daubed with blue paint that was created during a performative dinner – comes to life through light and sound. The display compels you to question the nature of an apparently banal object.
• Laure Prouvost (°1978, Lille) makes films and installations. In 2013, she won the prestigious Turner Prize. Ho What A Cake is part of From Wantee to Some Signs, an installation that was commissioned by Kunsthal Extra City in Antwerp.
