A T M O S P H E R E
Nearby and far away
In A T M O S P H E R E Marc Vanrunxt works with four Turkish dancers. This gives him the opportunity to (re)discover a number of themes and variations that form the basis of his work, together with younger dancers who have had a different training or come with different cultural influences. The title A T M O S P H E R E is a reference to Vanrunxt’s obsessions with time (duration) and space (nearby and far away), to a state of mind (nearby – introspection) and to a state in the universe (far away – observation).
• In recent years Vanrunxt has made solos for exceptional dancers such as Marie De Corte (Real, So Real, 2015), Rob Fordeyn (Discografie, 2013) and Igor Shyshko (L’art touche au ciel et à la terre, 2014). These solos were always reliant on the personality of the performers. Vanrunxt extracts a brilliance from these people and then magnifies it. This made-to-measure approach will be no different in this Turkish-Belgian production.
