Social theatre
In FB Theater, Ivo Dimchev continues his quest for interaction with the audience. This was also at the heart of P-project, which was on at the Kaaitheater during Performatik 2013. In that production, the audience was invited to write poetry during the performance, which Dimchev then converted into music, and also to perform actions on stage, even receiving payment to do so! It turned out to be a successful strategy.
Dimchev is now using the popular medium of Facebook as a tool – he lets the audience enter live comments on Facebook, which a dramaturge then turns into dialogues. These dialogues are then sent straight to the performers. This gives rise to an intense interaction between performers and audience: not only does the audience literally supply what the actors have to say, but equally their view of what they are seeing and their opinion of it can also be integrated. This makes for an odd game, a condensation of time, you might say – the performers will constantly adapt to the suggestions and tastes of the audience. So what exactly will be seen remains a surprise! You are warmly invited to help determine what it will be.
