Dream or impossible fantasy?
In the North quarter of Brussels, in the shadow of the ‘Manhattan’ towers, migrants, local residents and chance passers-by cross each other’s paths. Said, a new inhabitant of Brussels who lives in this neighbourhood, dreams of giving his family a better future. He would like to set up an independent ambulance service. He sacrifices everything for this dream, but it soon becomes clear it is no more than an impossible fantasy. A harsh confrontation with social injustice.
• Globe Aroma, the Brussels socio-artistic workplace founded in 2002, stimulates encounters in the city. It enables people to learn about the richness of other people’s cultures and creates opportunities for refugees and newcomers with artistic abilities. Together with residents and visitors in Brussels’ North quarter, Globe Aroma is making the short social fiction film Brussels North. Directed by Jan Geers and Jamal Boukhriss.
