To cycle in the light
Schwalbe Speelt Op Eigen Kracht is a CO2-neutral production. All the energy needed for the performance is generated by the performers themselves. Under the motto ‘It’s better to cycle in the light than wander around in the dark’, they generate the lighting by pedalling on home trainers. Schwalbe stands up to darkness, cold and cynicism with perseverance and boundless energy. And they have to cycle to appear in the spotlight.
• Schwalbe is a group of nine young performers. In 2008 they completed their mime studies in Amsterdam; Lotte van den Berg supervised their graduation performance. This collaboration resulted in the successful production, Spaar Ze…, which the group will also be presenting in Kaaitheater this season. Now graduated and ‘grown up’, this time the group will create and perform under its own steam – and at the same time deal with the problem of climate change.
Schwalbe also perform Save Them, Tuesday 7th and Wednesday 8th June at the Kaaitheater.
