A bomb of non-stop energy
Nine performers give it everything they’ve got to the accompaniment of loud techno music. They dance, dance and dance. They reveal all their vulnerability without restraint. A physical and emotional marathon, a bomb of non-stop energy which you still feel in your body long after it has ended.
• In 2008, the final year project by Schwalbe – nine students studying mime in Amsterdam – was striking for its radical and uncompromising approach. The students asked Lotte van den Berg, whose piece Cold Turkey will appear in Kaaitheater this season, to supervise their final project – not because of the still images in her work, but because of the fearless choices she is willing to make. Their cooperation resulted in Spaar Ze… a successful production that toured various theatres and festivals in the Netherlands and was presented during the Bâtard festival in the Beursschouwburg.
‘Dit heeft niets meer met de afstudeerconventies te maken. Hier wordt radicaal en compromisloos theater gemaakt, en juist hier worden performers gepresenteerd die je niet gauw weer zal vergeten.’ – Het Parool
Schwalbe also perform On Their Own, Friday 10 & Saturday 11 June at the Kaaitheater.
