Journey Home
Virtuoso, brimming with humour
In Journey Home, Les SlovaKs use characters, tradition and acting elements to create a narrative structure. The result is a ‘new-traditional’ dance performance; expressive, emotional, virtuoso, brimming with humour and with references to the personal history and culture of the five dancers. The live music by Simon Thierrée was created together with the dance and is a mixture of folk and modernism.
• As children they were already dancing at the dance academy in Banska Bystrica, Slovakia. Later they moved to Brussels and came together again while working with Rosas, Ultima Vez, Akram Khan and other fine companies. They founded Les SlovaKs in 2006. In 2007 we presented Opening Night, their first production. Journey Home, their second one, had its highly successful world premiere last season at the Kaaitheater.
