Bartók/Mikrokosmos

dance
06—07.04.2011

In Early Works, four choreographic pieces by Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker will be shown in the space of three weeks. They are all among her earliest works, dating from 1982 to 1987: Fase, Four Movements to the Music of Steve Reich (1982), Rosas danst Rosas (1983), Elena’s Aria (1984) and Bartók/Mikrokosmos (1987). Elena’s Aria will be rerun for the first time since its creation, while the three other pieces have been on Rosas’ repertoire for some time. Anne Teresa herself will be one of the dancers in Fase and Elena’s Aria.

Bartók/Mikrokosmos: exciting complicity
An evening of dance and music in three parts: the dance duet Mikrokosmos, set to a composition by Bela Bartók for two pianos, a musical work by György Ligeti, performed by two pianists, and the dance to the Fourth String Quartet by Bela Bartók. All the music will be performed live. An exciting complicity develops between the musicians and the dancers. Bartók/Mikrokosmos is a performance about dance and music and especially about the pleasure of dancing and playing together, in which the spectator participates simply by watching.
