KBC-laureatenconcert

music
13.04.2010

In the past decade, Ensemble Explorations, led by cellist Roel Dieltiens, has won a permanent position in the international music scene. The ensemble will perform a celloconcerti by Vivaldi at the KBC-Muziekprijs 2009-2010.  With exceptionally rich instrumentation – cello, lute/guitar, organ/harpsichord, cello continuo and contrabass – and considerable improvisation, the cello sonates are more than just a concert.  The eminent musicians taking part in this project have left out the fringes of Vivaldi’s music via intensive sessions, and at the same time they sharply bring forth the frivolity and deep musical expressions lying at the music’s core.

Ensemble Explorations places the great masters from the 18th and 19th century back in their authentic environment, stripped of fixed traditions. Even contemporary compositions and works from lesser known composers, often wrongly forgotten, are played with the same freshness and depth to the public. Ensemble Explorations perform regularly in Belgium and abroad, and are a frequently requested guest at numerous major musical festivals. In recent years, they have performed in Spain, France, Portugal, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Japan.
