The Ongoing Moment. Reflections on Image and Society

talk
23.05.2009

Marianne Van Kerkhoven is one of the leading and most influential dramaturges and critics/essayists in Flanders and beyond. Her aesthetic and political views have inspired generations of directors and choreographers. In the early seventies she launched the first political theatre company in Flanders, and since the early eighties she has worked and still works at the Kaaitheater with countless artists such as Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Jan Lauwers, Jan Ritsema, Josse De Pauw and Guy Cassiers. Recently she was working with a new generation of artists like Hooman Sharifi, Kris Verdonck, Kate McIntosh and Merlin Spie. She is frequently invited to talk at conferences at home and abroad. Sarma, the Brussels working place for criticism, dramaturgy and research in the field of dance and beyond, is working on a collection of her texts to be published online. Together with Sarma, the Kaaitheater and the Kunstenfestivaldesarts have invited her to give a talk on the last day of the festival, to be held on the main stage of the Kaaitheater.
