'I' Is Memory
Inner explosion
The dancer Louise Lecavalier and dancer-choreographer Benoît Lachambre both come from Montreal and have been active on the international dance scene for many years. Lecavalier has appeared in Brussels before in productions by the LaLaLa Human Steps company. Lachambre appeared in the Kaaitheater in 2005-2006 in Lugares comunes and this season can be seen in the revival of FORGERIES, LOVE AND OTHER MATTERS, a production he made with Meg Stuart.
Lecavalier is interested in the ‘impulse of movement that precedes all human communication and in which you can read the soul’. Lachambre seeks the confrontation of the body with its own movements. In the solo ‘I’ Is Memory the body is no longer guided or propelled forward by the mind but by an ‘inner explosion’ that radiates through the whole body and spreads in bones, muscles, organs and joints. A quasi-meditative dance of a being in full metamorphosis.
