DE SITCOMEBACK

In 2025, DE HOE ventured into making a sitcom on stage, a megalomaniac plan that could only end with thwarted ambitions, broken hearts, and ruined careers. Against all the laws of logic, the participants succeeded in their plan – DE SITCOM even exceeded expectations. As it goes with successes, this hit also has a long tail: the group is making a comeback in 2026.

DE SITCOM ended with an existential maze, in search of a way out of the endless laughter. That is exactly where DE HOE picks up the thread again: what does the company encounter in the heart of the labyrinth? In DE SITCOMEBACK, which is a prequel, finale, and making-of of both pieces as well as a stand-alone piece, all at the same time, the group tries to give a definitive provisional answer to the questions with which it all started: Is it all actually something to laugh at or cry about? When does lightness become unbearable? And what happens when you have reached the depths of superficiality?

• DE HOE came into being when Compagnie De KOE and Hof van Eede, two related collectives, merged in early 2023. The permanent core is supplemented every eighteen months by a young collective. De HOE writes and creates itself. De KOE had been a regular feature at Kaaitheater for many years.
