1030 Stappen/Pas
1030 Stappen/Pas is a theatre project that takes the spectators on a walk through Schaerbeek. Based on the testimonies of residents with an immigrant background who live there, we rediscover the neighbourhood. Which places were important to them when they arrived here? Which places do they remember well, positively or negatively?
This performative guided tour of the neighbourhood is led by performers with a migration background, who also look at the city with a critical eye. Through their stories, a new perspective on places in Schaerbeek that spectators may pass by every day without noticing, thus creating an emotional geography of the neighbourhood.
For 1030 Stappen/Pas, Tristero collaborates with Portuguese director and actress Rita Morais. In 2020, she created a similar project in Guimarães, an ancient city in the north of Portugal, often referred to as “the cradle of Portugal”. As a student at RITCS, she spent some time living in Brussels and Schaerbeek.
