Tafelen
Welcome to the table. Today on the menu: a vegan meal with a side dish of alternatives for care and family. Since the rise of industrialization and capitalism, the nuclear family has been regarded as the pre-eminent financially viable social unit. But what are possible alternatives? In the social art project Tafelen, Anna Schlooz investigates different forms of family formation and care, based on her experiences in youth care and in queer communities. By eating and thinking together you become acquainted with her research.
Anna Schlooz is a performer and theatre maker who lives and works in Ghent. She graduated as a theatre teacher in the Netherlands and obtained a master's degree in performance at KASK in Ghent. She creates moments that exist between performances, social encounters and philosophical gatherings. When creating these moments, she prefers to collaborate with people from outside the art world. In these projects she explores ways to be together, fantasise together and care for each other.
