كَلاَّ ، كلا قا (A thousand times, kalla-ka)

performance
09.03.2024

This is the story of an adult who revisits childhood desires and their unique ways of expression, after being confronted by the realities of the capitalist world, having lived in six different cities, on three continents, thinking: "Kalla-ka, this can’t be it!"

A storytelling approach to an ever-evolving piece, based on the artist's journey, research, and common human questioning, adopting the notion of personal narratives in a universal language as a healing power and as a way to collective consciousness.

“Three decades have passed to reunite
Hold up, We are almost home
Trust me, it’s okay if you do not make sense
The world does not make sense either
Scream it out, kiddo
Kalla-ka, Kalla-ka, Kalla-ka”

Each encounter offers new perspectives, exploring the potential of expression and community while experimenting with different mediums. It’s an invitation to share and hold space, to laugh and foster a sense of solidarity and collective connection, navigating the power of growing into our skin.

• Fareed Aziz, is an Egyptian interdisciplinary storyteller, visual artist, architect and writer. He navigates between performing and visuals arts. He studied architecture in Cairo before embarking on a journey from Egypt to Vietnam, to Hong Kong and South Korea as an interior architect. He is currently based in Brussels to pursue his artistic career and research.
This cultural exposure has instilled in him a profound curiosity about our shared common humanity that encouraged him to question further and experiment with the notion of storytelling across architecture, visual/performing arts, and digital media. Fareed actively engages in collective experiments, contributing to social initiatives like “the post collective” and developing workshops on storytelling, individual narratives, and collective consciousness next to his visual and personal practice.
