There is Nothing Wrong with People: The Counterpower Edition
“There is Nothing Wrong with People, but you cannot self-love your way out of systemic oppression” (TiNWwP) is an artivist platform that looks at the intersection of mental health and social justice. While mainstream psychology too often individualises and depoliticises our mental health, TiNWwP explores the ways in which the personal is political, and the political is personal. It investigates the impact of social conditions and mechanisms of oppression on our well-being through workshops, performances and talks. At the heart of each edition lie personal stories and healing practices of people who experience the consequences of systemic oppression.
The next edition of TiNWwP is about counterpower. What do we mean by that? What does it mean in concrete terms to disrupt existing power structures? How can we emotionally and collectively prepare ourselves to offer solid and fertile counterpower? What to do with feelings of anger or powerlessness facing structural injustice? How do we find balance between 'self'-care and community care? Let's come together to discuss and experience local resistance to global challenges calling for collective liberation.
