SPARKS 2021
Children do not belong to this world: they come from the future. It is from this place in time that they speak to us. Do we dare to listen to them? Francesca Grilli’s SPARKS 2021 is a participatory project based on a simple act: children read adults their future in the palm of their hand, as a hopeful gesture and as a break with the past.
After a multi-day workshop with artist and poet Azzurra D'Agostino, a group of children from Brussels will take the adult audience into a room where, one by one – and only the once – they will read their palm. The setup is simple; the kids, mysterious. As an adult, keeping quiet is the most important. In this project, children do not have to listen to big people talking about and deciding their future. They are just here to take our future into their little hands. Be still, surrender to their power, and open yourself to their visions and reflections.
• Francesca Grilli lives and works in Brussels. She uses a multidisciplinary language that focuses on performance and installation art.
