Still Animals installation
Tuur Marinus studied visual arts at the KdG Hogeschool in Antwerp before starting his training at P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels. His fascination for visual arts and choreography led to a specific language in which bodies are treated as animated objects – in between dance and installation. In Still Animals, Marinus brings the famous photographic studies of Eadweard Muybridge back to life. Naked human bodies that are subtly manipulated by camouflaged performers, perform iconic series like the jumping cat or the flying pigeon. The differences between the human and the animal body create intriguing beings that look both artificial and organic, both moving while staying in place. The installation version shows fragments from the evening performance.
