You are a dancer

Twenty years after the first Bal Moderne at the Théâtre de Chaillot in Paris, this unique project is still travelling the world. The list of choreographers who have worked on it over the years is impressive. Big names like Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Wim Vandekeybus, Philippe Découflé and Michèle-Anne De Mey have been interspersed with young, unknown talent. The successful recipe has never been changed: three short choreographic episodes are each taught to the public in 45 minutes. Although dance experience is not required, a certain amount of concentration and lots of fun is to be had. Do not expect the seriousness of a technical dancing lesson or the trendy atmosphere of a discotheque. However, do expect solidarity, fun and of course a bit of healthy exercise for all ages. Bal Moderne’s twentieth anniversary will be celebrated with a choreography by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and two brand new dances by Eleanor Bauer and the duo José Paulo dos Santos and Nanya Eslava.
