Still Standing You
Cowboy and Indian
Three years after their first joint work Still Difficult Duet (2007) Pieter Ampe and Guilherme Garrido created Still Standing You, a dance about (their) friendship, an amusing and recognizable portrait of two young men who probe one another’s boundaries. What begins with playful dance movements gets rougher and rougher until they end up fighting. The only tool they use is their body. A friendly pat on the back is answered with a playful push, followed by a perfect left hook. Pulling and pushing they explore their relationship. Are they friends, partners, lovers or rivals? The only thing they know for sure is that they are partners in crime, the Cowboy and Indian, seated on their horses, riding over the hills into the sunset.
• Pieter Ampe (1982) studied at PARTS and elsewhere. As a dancer he performed a.o. in Cirque Danton by Jan Decorte and The Song by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. Guilherme Garrido (1983) trained as an artist and participated in dance workshops. Apart from the two performances with Pieter Ampe, his creations include the solo Go John. Still Standing You was selected for Circuit X at the 2011Theatre Festival.
