Announcement of the winner of the Flemish Culture Prize for Translation. Fien Sabbe asks the winner questions about their work. The Minister, Joke Schauvliege, will hand the prize over personally.
15:00 - A plea for imagination
A plea for imagination at the heart of Europe, where dreams are coming under increasing pressure. Fifty years after Martin Luther King’s famous speech in Washington (1963), the Belgian-Nigerian novelist Chika Unigwe and the Brussels political scientist and sociologist Philippe Van Parijs tell us in full their dreams for tomorrow’s world. Two young people will also read their message. Presenter: Guy Gypens.
As part of the Passa Porta Festival (20-24 March). The festival will be presenting a whole range of inspiring encounters, talks and debates with around a hundred writers, thinkers and opinion-makers from all over the world. The theme of this year’s festival is ‘Imagine!’
