Zombie Aporia

dance
17—18.11.2011

Impossible contradictions

As far as its form is concerned, Zombie Aporia is like a rock concert. It consists of several numbers that are independent of each other, but together do form a complete set. The idea they share is that of impossible contradictions, like the living dead or ‘zombie’.

The choreographer and dancer Daniel Linehan questions the relationship between dance and music and examines how emotion determines expression and whether it could be any different. Is it the music that makes people dance, or is the dancing able to direct the music? Can we change our emotions by adapting our expression? Three dancers perform not only the dance but also the singing. One moment the singing seems to be leading the dancing, the next it’s the other way round.

"L'énergie du rock, l'esprit des pionniers postmodernes et l'insolence d'un trio de jeunes surdoués. Linehan a tout d'un grand."
Fabienne Arvers, les inRockuptibles

• The New York dancer Daniel Linehan graduated from PARTS last year and has already performed his solo, Not About Everything, in several international theatres. In his work he blurs the line separating dance from everything else.
