No beauty for me there where human life is rare
Needcompany has been in existence for 20 years and together with a number of European partners is organising a touring colloquium in Germany, France, Slovenia, Lithuania and Belgium. The Belgian part will take place on 6th March 2007. This colloquium, entitled No beauty for me there where human life is rare, is intended to be a ‘room for reflection on beauty and truth in the theatre’. Several speakers, including Georges Banu from the Université Paris III-Sorbonne Nouvelle, Nicolas Truong, a journalist on Le Monde and a member of the Avignon Festival staff, and Christel Stalpaert of Ghent University, will discuss the work of the director Jan Lauwers, and its questions about art and society. The moderator is Frederik Le Roy (Ghent University).
6th March is also the day of the launch of an English-language book containing new and existing essays on Jan Lauwers’ work, at the Bolle bookshop (rue de Flandre 57, 1000 Brussels).
