Dancer and choreographer Eleanor Bauer has a special relationship with variety theatre. This season audiences have seen an exuberant demonstration of this. From September to May she presented BAUER HOUR in the Kaaistudio’s once a month. Anything could happen in this combination of talk show, variety and cabaret. And more! As long as it’s fun.

BAUER HOUR is talk show, variety show, shit show, parlor show and cabaret show. A space and time for whatever seems most important now and not later. An occasion to practice the unknown, to share the musings and amusings that decorate life and need a place to go at night so they don't cause insomnia, a container for the things that end with "you heard it here first." BAUER HOUR is not about Bauer, it's all about the guests… within the ruckus frame of Bauer, of course. Everybody has a story so let's hear it, and talk is cheap so let's spend it. Small talk, medium talk, big talk, trash-talk, pillow talk, hard talk, shop talk, walk talk, fake talk, real talk, straight talk, curly talk, sideways talk, and backwards talk. No talk is also an option for special guests who prefer dance or pantomime.

BAUER HOUR is not an after talk nor an artist talk but perhaps everything everyone wishes both would actually ever be. BAUER HOUR is a fixed quantity aimed at maximum quality - quality time, of course, of an hour.

In the first show, Bauer’s guests were the dancers Alix Eynaudi and Mark Lorimer, who could be seen at work a few days later in Monique. Carlos Alberto Paniz Garbin (Rosas a.o.) provided the musical accompaniment.

On 22 October two versatile performers appeared, namely Kate McIntosh, who presented her latest performance All Ears at the Kaaistudio's the next day, and David Helbich. Fleur Khani played music.

The guests on 19 November were Tarek Halaby and Oonagh Duckworth. Tarek danced with several New York companies and took a course at P.A.R.T.S. Oonagh Duckworth leads the Bal Moderne, celebrating its 20th anniversary in Brussels in November 2013. Carlos Alberto Paniz Garbin (of Rosas and other companies) provided musical accompaniment.

On 17 December you could see a Winter Holiday Special with the Beide Messies, an ‘evolving art-system’ by the dancer and songwriter Andreas Albert Müller and cellist and composer Bo Wiget. Plus Musical-with-a-capital-M performances by the Kinoshita Carollers!

On 11 February there was a Valentine Special, with guests including Bojana Cvejic & Mette Edvardsen.

On 11 March, Eleanor made a special WoWmen! episode of her one-woman variety show. Combining sharp wit, humor, and serious questions, BAUER HOUR (The Docudrama) features on-location interviews with Emily Roysdon, Christine De Smedt, Katy Pyle, and a panel of concerned experts and researchers discussing a gender analysis of the Belgian performing arts field conducted by VTI and the Performing Arts Social Fund.

On 8 April Eleanor Bauer’s guests were the dancers Sandy Williams and Andros Zins-Browne.
