Seeking a better future for his grandchild, Mister Linh flees from a war-torn country. But he ends up in a place where he doesn’t feel at home. Until one day he meets Mister Bark, who mostly talks about his recently deceased wife. Although Mister Linh doesn’t understand him, he keeps listening to him, with his little girl on his knee. They meet every day on the same bench in the park. Until one day, everything changes…
Koen De Sutter performs the play as a monologue. Because De Sutter is alone onstage and performs all the roles – the narrator, Mister Linh and Mister Bark – the play has a very unconventional colour, atmosphere, and meaning. This is a production about the power of the imagination and representation. De Sutter tells the story with all the means he has at his disposal: text, words, images, music, sound, projections, etc. But this is also a play about loneliness, about the desire to communicate with the other and not least with the audience. Are we inside the narrator’s head? Are Mister Linh and Mister Bark voices in his own head? Is storytelling his way of processing a trauma?

Tijdens Matinee Kadee organiseren we gratis opvang voor kinderen tot 12 jaar in de vorm van een leuke workshop bij de matineevoorstellingen op zondagnamiddag. Kinderen tot vier jaar kunnen intussen spelen in de crèche.

Oorspronkelijk zouden Gene Bervoets en Koen De Sutter de voorstelling samen spelen. Omwille van oververmoeidheid en ziekte werd dit voor Gene Bervoets echter onmogelijk. Na overleg met de ploeg besloot Guy Cassiers verder te werken met één acteur op basis van een nieuw artistiek concept.
