Kate McIntosh's latest performance throws the work of several writers, composers and performers into the mix. To Speak Light Pours Out immerses you in a powerful listening space: it is a world where rhythms, voices, texts and their meanings shape and channel each other. Surrender to exhilarating polyrhythmic beats and the raw energy of layered voices that unleash sonic and spoken images, both political and poetic, liberating and activating.
To Speak Light Pours Out is an invitation to enjoy the sharp energies of positive disruption and new possibilities. A shout-out to the lust for transformation, resistance and new forms of being!
Saturday will be an extra exuberant, XL version: let loose your animals!
The Kaaitheater hall will fluctuate from book club to rave, like a spring night romance, like a music café, like the moon landing, like stroking your favourite pet, like joining the resistance together.
Writers who gave texts for To Speak Light Pours Out will open the evening with sharp minds and tongues: they will introduce you to the political power of words. After the show, there will be percussion performances, followed by DJ sets, drinks at the mobile bar, and a wilderness of dancing for everyone.*
They say when we’re all in the same space listening together, our heartbeats might end up synchronizing.
But our breathing will not, our breathing will stay polyrhythmic.
They say listening might be the most complex of all human behaviours.
To listen is a state of tension.
(Listening across difference.)
(Listening further than you can see.)

• Kate McIntosh's work transcends the boundaries of performance, theatre, concert, video and installation.
