AntennA

installation
09.10.2018

The rise of technology has made our communications more invasive than ever. Never have so many messages been sent into the world or have we ever been as reachable. But do we still really talk to each other – or only to ourselves and our devices? In AntennA, Kevin Trappeniers constructs a serene installation around miscommunication and lost communication. He hacks public space by making it as analogue as possible. A high transmission tower temporarily blocked the signals in its immediate surroundings, creating a new, silent space around it. It turns out, however, that radio jamming in public space is illegal. We no longer have a choice as to whether we are part of a digital world. Trappeniers invites you to his transmission tower to see, reflect, spend some time together and discuss the issues. Do you dare to let silence and emptiness in?

• In his work, Kevin Trappeniers explores new sensory experiences, balancing on the borders between the visual arts, theatre, and dance.
