UP IN ARMS

WWI and our contemporary world  

In close collaboration with colleagues from Berlin and London, the Kaaitheater will be setting up an artistic project on the commemoration of WWI. LIFT (London Festival of Theatre), HAU (Hebbel am Ufer, Berlijn) and the Kaaitheater will together commission internationally renowned artists and exchange productions. The starting point for these artists is the social impact of WWI and the decisive role it has played in shaping our contemporary world.

Up in Arms is primarily a series of theatrical performances at the Kaaitheater and Kaaistudios, but our projects also take us into the public space. 

Tim Etchells, author, artist, theatre-maker and leader of Forced Entertainment, will throughout the season correspond with other artists in the Up in Arms series about the thinking behind their productions.
