Two adults and a child
Op het podium: twee volwassenen en een kind, elke avond opnieuw uitgenodigd zonder enige repetitie. Het kind, met koptelefoon op, lijkt de leiding te hebben. De volwassenen kopiëren de bewegingen van kinderen die ze zien op schermen om hen heen. Deze marionetachtige dans verbeeldt de verhalen, liedjes en dromen die door de stemmen van nog meer kinderen worden geselecteerd en ingefluisterd als bruikbare voorbeelden van kwetsbaarheid of verrassing. Wie zijn deze kinderen eigenlijk?
‘Een generatie van miljoenen in de steek gelaten kinderen, onmogelijk wijs, goed in ‘neen' zeggen, helden met een onzekere toekomst die een automatische theatermachine creëerden om om te gaan met een wereld van aan schermen gekluisterde volwassenen.’
• Ant Hampton is gekend voor geautomatiseerde structuren (autoteatro) en niet-gerepeteerde performatieve situaties. Hij stond al in het Kaaitheater-programma met The Extra People, Crazy But True en The Quiet Volume. Samen met Kaai-resident Christophe Meierhans creëerde hij ook de automatische workshop The THING.
