L’Etang
Gisèle Vienne keer terug naar het Kaaitheater met een tekstbewerking van de Zwitserse schrijver Robert Walser (1878-1956). L'Etang (de vijver) is een muzikaal theaterstuk over een kind dat zich niet geliefd voelt door zijn moeder. Op het hoogtepunt van zijn wanhoop en als ultieme poging om haar liefde voor zich te winnen, veinst hij zelfmoord te plegen in een vijver. Twee actrices vertolken de moeder en de buurvrouw, de kinderen en tieners van het dorp worden belichaamd door zeven mensgrote poppen – die wel vaker opduiken in het werk van Vienne. Haar partner(-in-crime) Stephen O’Malley van cultgroep SUN O))) tekent opnieuw voor de muziek. L’Etang toont een universum waarin meervoudige lagen van betekenis en tijd over elkaar heen rollen. De fragiele orde van het stuk lijkt net zo goed onderhuidse chaos te suggereren.
• De Frans-Oostenrijkse theatermaakster Gisèle Vienne volgde na haar studies in de filosofie, ook een opleiding als poppenspeler. Sinds 2004 creëert ze voorstellingen, waarvan er verschillende in het Kaaitheater stonden: This Is How You Wil Disappear, The Pyre, The Ventriloquists Convention en – het meest recent – de slow motion-technovoorstelling CROWD.
