a music album presentation with unpretentious choreography
In 2016 gaf Ivo Dimchev één van zijn befaamde live concerten in de Kaaistudio’s: 15 songs from my shows. Zijn gevoel voor muzikaliteit en uitzonderlijke stem stonden altijd al centraal in zijn performances, maar de laatste twee jaar koos hij resoluut het pad van de muziek. In het Kaaitheater presenteert hij een live en dansante versie van zijn eerste studioalbum Sculptures. De klanken die Dimchev produceert, beschouwt hij als driedimensionale structuren die hij met zijn hele lichaam kan manipuleren. Voor hem zijn het 'sculpturen'. Zijn adembenemende stem brengt de donkere poëzie van zijn teksten naar voren en zorgt voor een angstaanjagende en diep ontroerende ervaring.
• Ivo Dimchevs werk is een extreme en kleurrijke mix van performancekunst, dans, theater, muziek, tekeningen en fotografie. Bijna al zijn performances stonden in het Kaaitheaterprogramma. Van 2013 tot 2017 was hij hier artist-in-residence.
