Dark Matter
Geflankeerd door twee onhandige assistenten, staat Kate McIntosh als een hogepriesteres in glitterjurk op scène. Gedurende een soort revue werpen ze zich vol overgave op allerlei huis-, tuin- en keukenexperimenten. Met hun pseudowetenschappelijk betoog en filosofische bespiegelingen ontmaskeren ze de dilettanten wiens proefondervindelijke bewijsvoeringen – van dat ‘wat ze zeker weten’ – blijven mislukken. Vragen over multidimensies of zwarte gaten veroorzaken opwinding en nieuwsgierigheid maar ook verwarring en angst, omdat je ze nooit in je dagelijkse leven kunt integreren. Dark Matter is een erg grappige voorstelling, die tegelijk een gevoel van unheimlichkeit oproept.
• Artist-in-residence Kate McIntosh overstijgt met haar werk de grenzen van performance, theater, video en installatie. Wat daarin telkens opvalt is de manier waarop ze de afstand tussen speler en publiek weet te overbruggen, en haar voorliefde voor theatrale beelden. In één week tijd kun je drie van haar producties meemaken, speels balancerend op de lijn tussen wetenschap, entertainment, experiment, variété, filosofie en eclectische verhalen.
