Een duister scenario
In MONUMENT 0: Haunted by Wars (1913-2013) kijkt de Hongaarse choreografe Eszter Salamon terug op honderd jaar oorlogsvoering. Ze doet dat aan de hand van tribale dansen, volksdansen en andere populaire dansvormen, gerelateerd aan conflicthaarden uit de vijf continenten. Haar dans-archeologisch onderzoek strekt zich uit van de vooravond van Wereldoorlog I tot de meest recente conflicten. Samen met haar zes dansers boetseert Salamon met het gevonden materiaal een indrukwekkende ‘dodendans’. Het duistere en bijwijlen surrealistische scenario lijkt het publiek een blik te gunnen op een verborgen massagraf waaruit gemaskerde figuren oprijzen die de horror te lijf gaan met energieke rituelen.
MONUMENT 0: Haunted by wars (1913-2013) is het eerste deel van een serie stukken waarin Salamon het verband onderzoekt tussen choreografie en geschiedenis.
• Eszter Salamon was eerder te zien in het Kaaitheater met o.a. Giszelle (2005, i.s.m. Xavier Le Roy), Dance #1/Driftworks (2008, i.s.m. Christine De Smedt), Magyar Tàncok (2008) en TALES OF THE BODILESS (2011). Op de eerste Dag van de Dans presenteren we ook nog Dance #2, een duet dat ze creëert samen met Christine De Smedt.
