Dans The Silencing, David Weber-Krebs explore le rôle des spectateur·ices dans la salle de théâtre. Celà reflète ce qui se passe à l'extérieur, où leur activité a un profond impact sur leur environnement physique. Sur scène, un groupe de jeunes narrateur·ices, accompagné·es du compositeur Pali Meursault, tissent des récits (auto-) biographiques, des spéculations et des enregistrements audio. Ils·elles vous conduisent à travers un processus lent qui mène au silence. Jusqu'à ce qu'il n'y ait plus d'histoires à raconter.
• David Weber-Krebs (BE/DE) est un artiste et chercheur qui vit à Bruxelles. Il a étudié à l'Université de Fribourg (CH) et à l'Amsterdam School of the Arts (NL). Il s'agit d’une vieille connaissance du Kaaitheater. Avec Jeroen Peeters, il a organisé les conférences performatives On Enclosed Spaces et the Great Outdoors, dont la quatrième a été diffusée en direct du Kaaitheater. Les œuvres récentes pour les théâtres sont les spectacles Tonight, lights out ! (2011/2013), Balthazar (2011/2015) et The Guardians of Sleep(2017), tous trois présentés au Kaaitheater. Il a également réalisé l’ouvrage and then the doors opened again, dans lequel 75 artistes, universitaires, conservateur·rices et spectateur·ices imaginent leur première visite au théâtre après la fermeture du COVID-19 en 2020.
