Led by textile artists part of the local Brussels-based Cycl. One collective, this workshop serves as preparation for Ntando Cele’s Wasted Land. In it, we will create a space to engage with the ecological implications of fabrics in a more concrete way. Extending the performance beyond the stage space and time into a participatory format, the workshop is a moment for collective exploration, where participants can enter the work not as spectators, but as active characters.
What is our relationship to waste? What implications and life cycles are embedded in textiles, and how might we approach them differently? Participants are invited to work with discarded fabrics, exploring ways of rethinking and reactivating what is usually considered refuse. As we cannot escape the waste that we produce, we must stay with it, finding other ways to make it circulate.
