Schetsen en sporen

After decades of groundbreaking text theatre, Maatschappij Discordia no longer receives subsidies. Nostalgia is out of the question. But they do seize this moment to delve into the sources and texts that inspired them all those years. And set to work with the material in their very own ‘poetics of the collective’. Sketches and traces become visible:

what did we play?

Was it the blue bird,

the cherry garden or something by Bernhard?

we remember fragments.

we sketch images.

we look for traces.

but did we play and are we going to play,

or are we just here and now?

• Maatschappij Discordia is a collective of emancipated actors that for decades has been performing at Kaaitheater and is back in Brussels with two performances. The company was single-handedly responsible for the renewal of text theatre in the Low Countries; they introduced a thinking play in the moment, the use of costumes and designer fashions, furniture and objects and an inquisitive, questioning and open text treatment.  We are certainly looking forward to their lively and playful work.
