Skatepark
Together with an intergenerational group of skaters and dancers, Mette Ingvartsen explores the speed and energy of movement on wheels, a physical memory from her own childhood. Much more than simply a flawless spectacle of virtuoso performances, Skatepark marks the emergence of a community defined by perseverance and hard work.
It illustrates the practice and passion of individuals trying to push the limits of the achievable through trial and error, alone but also as a group. The repeated attempts at tricks, jumpwork, balance, as well as boisterous interaction and clashes show something more: in a shared space, a society emerges from which we can learn.
In Skatepark, choreographer Mette Ingvartsen explodes the fun and rebellion of skate culture in the theatre. This energy bomb proves it: punx not dead! – De Standaard
