CANCELLED - Salle Noire

performance
18—19.11.2023

This performance is cancelled due to an injury of one of the performers.

In her first solo show Salle Noire, David-Christelle Sanvee explores the theatre space, in its symbolism and materiality.

Today's theatre is scary. Black ceilings, walls and floors, an empty space waiting to be filled by the performances that populate it, those white stories. Sanvee seizes this space to explore the violent social architecture in which she has had to construct herself as a black woman. In order to face her deepest fears, question them and confront them with clenched fists.

Salle Noire reveals the construction of this space and brings out the visible and invisible stories and presence of those who occupy it.

• David-Christelle Sanvee is a Swiss and Togolese performer. Her creations are often done in situ and are rooted in social and political issues and seek to highlight the places where they take place. Following her collaboration with Rebecca Chaillon in Carte Noire Nommée Désir (2023), she returns to Kaaitheater with her first solo creation.
