Zeppelin Bend

dance
24.06.2023

What training for what performance, what preparation for what struggle, what effort for what goal? After BSTRD and A Kind of Fierce, Katerina Andreou is continuing her exploration of physical practices and once again questioning free will on stage and its subjective and utopian nature. She sees physical activity as an exercise in rigour and discipline, but also as a desire to grapple with the question of control and power.

Zeppelin Bend, taking the name of an end-to-end joining knot that was used to moor airships, is a duo. Katerina Andreou et Natali Mandila are putting together dances, actions and sounds that demand hardcore discipline and psychedelic imagination. In a world where staying ‘grounded’ or getting ’high’ seem to be often considered as survival methods, they try out both. While seeking moments of freedom, both performers try to maintain realness by focusing on their bodies in the act of doing.

· Katerina Andreou born in Athens, Greece, based in France, is dancer and choreographer. Her dance company BARK is based in Paris. She has created A kind of Fierce, which was awarded with the choreography price Prix jardin d'Europe 2016 in Impulstanz Festival in Vienna, and BSTRD in 2018, part of the Aerowaves selected works for 2019. As a dancer she collaborated among others with DD Dorvillier, Lenio Kaklea, Bryan Campbell, Dinis Machado, Emmanuelle Huynh, Ana Rita Teodoro.
