“The walls have ears” people sometimes say. But what if they could speak too? Imagine if we could listen to the sounds and conversations that the walls have absorbed over the years. What would come out of that?
For Fluisterbehang, Tristero uncovered the hidden stories stored in the walls of the Schaerbeek house at 80 Gallaitstraat. Tristero has often performed on location before and this 1888 mansion also forms an exciting backdrop and comes with an escape route. During this guided tour, you literally listen to the walls of the old building. What happened in the smallest corner of that strange mezzanine? Who slept in the attic room during the Second World War? Which trees had to make way for the house and which walls will still be standing 200 years from now?
The performance is about the house in Gallaitstraat, but also about all and any house in the world. Because what is that: a house? When does the house become a home and is every house a home? What do we still allow to enter through the doors and windows and what not? What do we want to keep within its walls at all times?
