Hind Ennaira, the rising star among Essaouira's Gnawas, is one of the rare players of the guembri, a lute-like string and percussion instrument. She is called 'Bent Haussa' by her community of Gnawas, a reference to the haoussa people who played an important role in the creation of Gnawa culture.

She took part in the opening parade of the 22nd Festival Gnaoua et Musiques du Monde in 2019 and was also on stage at the Festival Jeunes Talents d'Essaouira in the same year. Hind Ennaira is thus embarking on a blitz career that was unfortunately briefly interrupted by the pandemic. Now, for the first time, you can admire her on a Belgian stage. During her concerts, she delivers her very own interpretation of the traditional repertoire of the Gnawa culture.

• We present this concert together with Le Space/Headquarters of the Mouvement, an organisation that has used the Kaaistudio's as its base since 2020. In the past year, they have hosted several online programmes, including two editions of By Any Beats Necessary about Palestine and police violence, and the discussion series Justice4Mawda.
