Marianne van Kerkhoven – een archief voor de toekomst
Marianne van Kerkhoven spent thirty years as a dramaturge at Kaaitheater. She was one of the founders of the careers of several generations of artists. Her views on dramaturgy, the performing arts and the connection between art and society made her a public figure whose writings were eagerly read and shared.
Marianne has to attend the farewell party ‘Bye Bye Kaai’. We make her part of it with a conversation about the legacy of her work. Speaking are Esther Severi and Edith Cassiers, two dramaturges who both studied her life and oeuvre and who each wrote an article about it for Documenta magazine. For this publication - which will dedicate its latest edition to Marianne - Edith Cassiers examined femininity in Marianne's thought and work. Esther Severi, guest editor of the publication together with Anoek Nuyens and Ronald Geerts, delved deeper into history in her text and examined how Marianne's time with the political theatre company Het Trojaanse Paard can still inspire today.
