Radical Light

dance
18—19.03.2016

Straightforward and unadulterated

In Radical Light, a creation for four dancers, choreographer Salva Sanchis uses music to combine experience-related and formal dance. ‘Experience-related’ stands for the dances that we create spontaneously at a party or at home, when we are alone. There is something instinctive about them but they are also socially determined; they have a certain elegance and finesse, and an authentic and precise relationship to the music. Formal dance, however, is what you see in dance performances, the movements are completely ‘composed’.

Discodesafinado’s fuse of minimal techno and experimental electronics inspires Salva Sanchis. Their rhythmic, contemplative sound palette proofs incomprehensible but infectious. Radical Light unleashes the musical concept of pulse on five dancers: straightforward, multilayered and unadulterated. Immerse yourself in sound and movement at an uncompromising 120 beats per minute.

• Salva Sanchis (PARTS, Rosas) is a co-partner in the dance organisation Kunst/Werk, together with Marc Vanrunxt. He has been a guest at the Kaaitheater with his own work Objects in mirror are closer than they appear (2008), now h e r e (2011) and The Phantom Layer (2013). Since 2009 he has worked with Bernard Fouccroulle on The Organ Project, a series of dance performances with live organ music in various churches in Europe.
